  1. St Peter's Cathedral in Rome is the Roman 
  2. Catholic cathedral church of the Vatican City 
  3. State, built 1506-1626, chiefly by the 
  4. architects Bramante and Michelangelo, 
  5. successively. The cathedral has an internal 
  6. length of 180m (600 ft), and a width at the 
  7. transepts of 135m (450ft). The dome has an 
  8. internal diameter of 42m (137ft), and rises 
  9. externally 138m (452 ft) to the crowning 
  10. cross of the lantern.
